Due to my messed up schedule and general lazy-assery it will be some time before I can continue work on this episode. so here’s a little preview of what I do have for Page 10. The last panel has been omitted to keep the surprise secret >:3

FINALLY A new update, huh?

I’ve had the sketch to Page 9 of “Scot’s Op” for nearly a couple months before I got around to coloring and posting it.

During that time I wound up rewriting the rest of the episode over again several times before I finally settled on a good plot.

There will be five more pages of this episode before it will ‘end’ Part 1. Then I will finish “Unforeseen Consequences” where that too has been rewritten a dozen more times.

Updates and more Updates

by Jasen Tamiia on January 31, 2011 at 12:14 PM

Ive done some re-arranging of the storyline structure sorting of the webcomic, to change a couple episodes into the main storyline thread, as opposed to being Tangent comics, they are of course part of DT canon. (To Die For and Scot’s Op)

You can expect to see more updates to “Scot’s Op” later this weekend as I finish those pages. I have Page 9 sketched out waiting inking and coloring and currently planning out the subsequent pages of this episode.

Also in the works is the remaining story of “Unforeseen Consequences” and the beginnings of the next episodes. As a teaser the titles of the next episodes are “Into the Web” and “Legend of the Rubber Brush”

In the rest of this episode, and the next two, you can expect to see more guest character appearances, more technologies, more bondage (of course) and a bit deeper storyline~ ^w^

The episode “Scot’s Op” was originally a series of commissions that ScotSkunk paid a considerable amount nearly a year ago, and recently contributed even more funds when the commissions were re-negotiated to become this comic.

This has led to the consideration of offering DT-Comic commissions, where someone can have their own episode featuring their character and their story written in cooperation with the DT cast.

Before I actually officially offer these commissions, I am running a couple of experimental test-runs of this by doing Scot’s comic, and the next episode is basically a high-value art trade.

After those two episodes are finished, I will complete Unforeseen Consequences and work on the Rubber Brush episode. Then I will officially open a couple slots for DT Comic Commissions.

Regarding the DT Comic Commissions, a considerable amount of work and planning go into the comics. It can take anywhere from a day to a couple weeks to work out the storyline of one episode. The sketching of pages can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours each, Inking and Coloring take another 2-6+ Hours depending on the complexity of the page. Comic lengths average about 8-24 pages so far, but could take more depending on what it takes to complete the story.

The starting price for DT Comic Commissions would likely be very steep, so I might offer Cameo commissions for much cheaper or for art trades :3

Since I work a day job 3-4 days a week for 12+ hours a shift, I don’t have all the time I need to work on these comics on a regular basis, so that is why DT updates as irregularly as it does ^^;
I do manage to doodle random things and mini-plans for comics while I am at work, if you like to see them you can subscribe to my notepad feed at http://jasensnotepad.tumblr.com/

Here is my general schedule for February 2011:

Soon to Return to Normal Programming :3

Now that “Doll For A Day” and “To Die For” have each respectively finished their run, It is time to return to the main episode “Unforeseen Consequences” and Devious Tangents’ regular once-a-week schedule.

I was really supposed to be working on the next page to that during the past month, but really I’ve been preoccupied with many other distractions. . .

This week however I have a big 6-day work streak at my day job. On my next day off I will begin work on Page 11.
I have at least five pages planned out already for this episode so I just need to draw and color them. (which takes about 6-8 hours a page ^^;)

Page 11 should be online by 11/11 if everything goes according to plan.

Lazarus Resurrection Device

by Jasen Tamiia on November 1, 2010 at 6:33 PM
Posted In: Technology

The Lazarus Resurrection Device is a top-secret machine developed by the TFLPS (Tamiia Family Line Preservation Society) in 2501.

Its purpose is to recall a recently deceased person’s consciousness (essentially one’s soul) and implant it into an replicated body.

This technology is based on the theory that every sentient beings souls exist on a parallel dimension similar to space and time, and that the brain is the organic interface between those dimensions.
When the Lazarus Device is properly configured, it could target any specific being’s soul and transfer it into a matching body.
The procedure will only be successful if the receiving body is of the same genetic structure of the subject’s previous body.

Limitations of the Lazarus Device are its energy cost, and the extreme difficulty in the ‘Tuning’ process to target a specific soul.
The Lazarus Device consumes an incredibly immense amount of power, even greater than the energy that powers Starship Legacy’s Titan Hyperdrive engines.
(More power than it takes to warp space itself, that’s a lot of power we’re talking about here.)
The Tuning process itself takes years of analysis of the subject to configure a profile in order to recall their soul in the event of the subject’s death.
Replicating the body is relatively the easiest part of the resurrection procedure. Periodic DNA and physiological analyses ensure an up-to-date ‘backup’ profile of the subject’s body.
The manufacturing process for a replicate body only takes about a week.

Renee and Remy Tamiia have replicate bodies in standby. Their resurrections are financed by the TFLPS (for anyone else the process would be impossibly expensive)
However, due to Renee’s reckless pleasure-pursuant lifestyle, he winds up using the Lazarus Device more often than Remy in most cases.

-That’s one hell of a health insurance policy, huh?-
